The population called to protect themselves against a new wave of the coronavirus

The Director of Hygiene and Health Promotion, Jean Claude Emeka revealed on March 17 in Brazzaville, that it was always important to protect oneself once morest all forms of influenza, in order to avoid the risk of a new covid-19 wave.

“We can always be surprised by a more virulent variant than that of the coronavirus. It is therefore necessary to redouble our vigilance and not let our guard down. The population should continue to respect barrier measures such as wearing a mask, physical distancing, and washing hands, in order to avoid the flu and a possible rebound of covid-19. However, the best way to fight remains vaccination,” said the Director of Hygiene and Health Promotion, Jean Claude Emeka, in an interview with the Vox media.

“The flu that is currently raging in households is an opportunity for us health workers to continue the response once morest covid-19, by providing health facilities and hospitals with rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) once morest the coronavirus, and we recommend that health personnel perform these tests on anyone who presents with flu-like symptoms to rule out covid-19 and treat them like ordinary flu,” he added.

Faced with this flu epidemic, the Director of Hygiene and Health Promotion Jean Claude Emeka urged the population to take precautions to protect themselves from any eventuality. “Currently Brazzaville has not registered any serious cases of covid, so I invite those who show signs of flu to make sure it is not the coronavirus. If this is the case, 17 screening and vaccination sites are available in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire,” he said.

The chronic and recurring flu that affects households strikes terror into the minds of many people. I was scared thinking it was a third wave of the coronavirus and later I realized that several households were victims. This flu is even resistant to traditional products,” said Brazzaville native Philippe.
