The facts take place last May: we are on the eve of the Easter holidays, utwenty young children (between 4 and 12 years old) are expected for a pony training course and spontaneously, Vanessa Darnelle, launches a small appeal on social networks to ask young people used to frequenting the merry-go-round, to come and lend a hand. It’s regarding bringing the ponies from the meadow for the little ones, brushing them, saddling them, not giving lessons in any case or supervising the course. The arena is family friendly, everyone knows each other, and when they are not at school, the young riders enjoy meeting up there.
However, on May 12, in the middle of an internship, Vanessa Dernelle sees the arrival of two inspectors of social laws whom she describes as determined:
” They asked me who was teaching? I explained that it was me. Who was there to help? I explained that we sometimes work with our helpers, to which they replied that it was not legal, that we might not operate in this way and that it was considered student work no declared”. Except for exceptions provided for in the texts, child labor is prohibited.
At the same time, the children who take part in the course are also interviewed. A mother, Muriel Wauthion, testifies:
” My daughter was asked her name, surname and address, what she did in the centre, who worked there, who was who and did what”. Fifteen days following the fact, the 9-year-old girl is still stressed at the mention of the episode in which she did not understand much. That day, Vanessa’s husband is present on the scene and he does not appreciate at all that the children are questioned without their parents being present. It is also prohibited. However, this will earn him a ticket for obstructing control.
