On February 16 and 17, Friday and Saturday, the 16th Panhellenic Satire Festival of Amateur Troupes, “Momos o Patreus”, will take place at the “Pantheon” Theater, organized by the Amateur Theater of Patras “Refene”.
For Friday evening (at 9:30 p.m. exactly), a tribute to three amateur theater groups is scheduled, among which, the Theater Workshop for adults of “Polyphoniki”, (Director: Athina Kallimani- Georgitsopoulou), was chosen for its contribution to amateur theater. which, out of competition, will present the Aristophanic comedy “Ilion-Trojan War”. (The theater group of Ermoupoli Syros “G. Souris” and the theater group “ErasiTECHNES” of the Municipality of Ilida will take part in the same tribute).
This play is based on the comedy “Trojan War” from “Zakynthian speeches” by Nikos Gousetis (Strictly unsuitable for minors). This is an anti-war spree, a parody of war. A tongue-in-cheek satirical traditional theater genre, derived from the Zakynthos “Speeches”, which were written and performed in Zakynthos during the Venetian period (mid-17th century) by amateur actors, drawn from the ranks of the people.
