The police find the loot of two Louviérois after a chase in Ostend

Their loot was found by chance following a chase that had started following a hit-and-run accident in Ostend.

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a roundregarding located not far from the large Kennedy roundregarding. A car registered in France hit the vehicle of a 53-year-old lady. The 36-year-old driver of the Alfa Romeo continued on his way towards the city center. He was then chased by the police. The motorist tried to flee via Vissersplein, but his car hit a decorative element. The incident caused no injuries despite the end-of-year crowds in town.

The two occupants of the fleeing vehicle were reportedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs. But that wouldn’t be the only reason for their escape. The police have indeed found in their car goods stolen from the Hubo and Brico supermarkets in Bredene.

The driver and his 31-year-old passenger appeared Saturday noon before the investigating judge. The latter placed them under arrest warrant for the thefts committed in Bredene. The investigation will have to determine if they perpetrated other similar acts.
