Pokémon is one of the most popular video game franchises and it’s not going to stop anytime soon. The Pokémon Company has just updated its website with new stats. We learn that the Pokémon franchise has distributed more than 480 million games worldwide. This is a huge number that testifies to the popularity of Pokémon in the world.
The 480 million Pokémon games distributed concern all titles and all generations of games that have been released on the various consoles over the years. Thus, even the sales of Pokémon Puzzle League which is one of the most atypical games of the franchise are part of these 480 million.
Over 52.9 billion Pokémon cards have also been produced
Of course, the best-selling Pokémon games are those of the main series, both Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version released in 1999 and Pokémon Scarlet and Purple launched in 2022. Moreover, the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Purple was somewhat disrupted last year by a series of absurd bugs. Nevertheless, these two titles sold 10 million copies in just three days and 20 million copies in six weeks. Pokémon titles are consistently among the best games to buy for Nintendo’s consoles each year.
That’s not all. The Pokémon Company has also shared some interesting stats for Pokémon fans. For example, 52.9 billion Pokémon cards were made in total. However, some of them are so rare that they sell for tens of thousands of dollars. These tens of billions of cards have been sold in 89 countries in total and available in 14 different languages. Needless to say how the Pokémon cards are a worldwide success.
Finally, The Pokémon Company also revealed that the anime series in the franchise has been broadcast in 192 countries and regions around the world. The adventures of Sacha and Pikachu on the small screen have just ended following almost 26 years. The final episode aired on March 24, 2023 in Japan.
