Aleksey Melnikov, the executive secretary of Moscow’s public monitoring commission (POC), has denied reports that Daria Trepova, who is accused of a terrorist attack resulting in the death of military commander Vladlen Tatarsky, is being held at the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center. In a Telegram-channel post, Melnikov stated that he will update on Trepova’s location as soon as they visit the detention center, explaining that the POC is currently facing numerous requests from citizens who require a swift response from the commission. Earlier, member of the Presidential Human Rights Council, Eva Merkacheva, claimed that Trepova had been taken to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center. On April 4th, Trepova was arrested by the Basmanny Court of Moscow, with the defense seeking a preventive measure that is not related to detention. According to the investigation, Trepova brought a figurine containing an explosive device to Street Food Bar No. 1 on Universitetskaya Embankment in St. Petersburg on April 2nd. The detonation resulted in the death of Tatarsky, and 40 people were injured. More information regarding the case can be found in the Kommerstant’s article, “Basmanny Court is Short-lived.” The article was authored by Milena Kostereva.
