Hundreds of newspapers were stolen in Colorado after the publication of an article about the rape of a teenage girl at the home of a police chief.

As the story made it to the front page of “The Plaindealer” newspaper Thursday, nearly all copies were stolen from racks in Ouray and Ridgway.

“Clearly someone didn’t want the community to read the news this week. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about the story they didn’t want you to read,” the local newspaper reported, according to Fox New.

On Friday, the day after the crime, officers from the Ouray County Sheriff’s Office got their hands on a suspect. However, the latter would have no links with the police chief or with the accused involved in the rape story.

“We’re not going to stop doing our job, which is highlighting important issues in our community and keeping you informed. This person is not going to end press freedom by stealing a few hundred newspapers. Our community will not stand for it, and neither will we,” stressed “The Plaindealer” adding that bullies “do not [font] what to strengthen [la] determination [de son équipe].
