Around 7 p.m. this Thursday, the Brussels firefighters intervened for a cellar fire in a house on rue Quatrecht in Schaerbeek. The house was partially under renovation and lived upstairs. “The two occupants present were outside, safe and sound, when we arrived,” comments Walter Derieuw, spokesman for the Brussels Fire Brigade.
“Smoke and soot emission throughout the house. The origin of the fire is accidental, but remains to be determined. The electrical infrastructure burned down. The fire also caused a water leak. The house is uninhabitable,” the spokesperson added.
The Brussels-North police zone has set up a security perimeter to facilitate operations. End of the intervention around 8 p.m.
