The pirate ship is heading for a semi-final exit after a marathon match

The victorious pirate ship is well on its way to being transformed into one of the large cruise ships that dock at the quay in Aalborg. You are behind 1-3 in matches in the semi-final series once morest Esbjerg Energy.

The playing effort also pointed towards the summer holiday atmosphere in the first 20 minutes of Tuesday’s semi-final match in Esbjerg.

Here, Aalborg Pirates delivered one of the results that captain Julian Jakobsen has wondered regarding, that the pirates are always capable of delivering.

After 20 minutes of hockey, Esbjerg Energy was ahead with 3-0. It was a display of greater sharpness on the part of the West Jutland players, while one sensed a beginning of frustration on the part of the Pirates players, who are not usually such as to go off course mentally.

The second period was largely played on Esbjerg’s terms. It was the people from West Jutland who had the biggest chances, while Aalborg Pirates looked more for the concept.

Well into the third period, it didn’t look like they were going to find a way back into the game and the series. It was still Esbjerg Energy that created the biggest chances, but almost out of nowhere, Jeppe Jul Korsgaard controlled the puck in the goal for a reduction.

It kick-started the Aalborg team. Tommy Giroux pumped more life into the Pirates comeback as he cut back further. With just under four minutes left, Esbjerg’s Frederik Bjerrum was hit by a slightly questionable sending-off. The subsequent advantage seemed to run out for the pirates, but then Thomas Spelling appeared and knocked the puck into the goal to make it 3-3.

Thus, the two teams had to go into the third round of overtime in the four matches so far. Here there was a bit of a positional war in it. Esbjerg clearly had the biggest chances, while the pirates for a rare occasion seemed to be affected by a little fatigue. On the forward side, Calder Brooks was obviously missing, but so was Patrick Bjorkstrand, and his absence was felt.

Bjørkstran’s ability to single-handedly transport the puck into Esbjerg’s zone would have been very valuable in the sometimes deadlocked performance, where it seemed as if Pirates had difficulty becoming seriously dangerous. Therefore, a fifth period was also needed to find a winner.

Here it became clear that Esbjerg had more energy, and this resulted in a decisive score from Frederik Bjerrum. Thus, Esbjerg stands with one foot in the DM final. The fifth and potentially last semi-final will be played on Friday evening in Aalborg.
