2023 was a more complicated year for the business of François-Henri Pinault and his family.

While the economic magazine Forbes has just published its 2024 ranking of billionaires in the world, the vast majority of the first ones progress over one year, if not in the hierarchy, at least in the estimation of their fortune. Colossal. Not the Pinault family. The one who watches over the interests of Stade Rennais in particularin the world of football.

A fortune down by 11 billion euros over one year

According to Forbes, family wealth has been declining over the past year. Given at 40.1 billion dollars (47.9 billion euros) in 2023, it is now (36.9 billion euros). Still a reduction of almost a quarter which causes the Breton family to slide from 32nd to 54th place in the wealth rankings in 2024.

Interests in fashion, auctions and the entertainment and sports industry

She is the one who runs the Keiring company, valued at $22 billion in sales in 2022, is managed by her son, François-Henri. In addition to their interests in the world of fashion, the Pinault family also owns the famous auction house Christie’s, as well as an impressive art collection including works by Picasso, Mondrian and Koons. In 2023, the Pinaults expanded their investment portfolio by acquiring a majority stake in talent agency Creative Artists Agency, previously owned by private equity fund TPG. Based in the sports and entertainment industry, it is the agency which notably manages the career of the French world champion, Raphael Varane.

Outside of PSG, Stade Rennais has the richest owners in Ligue 1

Although in decline, the Pinault fortune nonetheless remains the richest, in the world of the League they are the richest club owners, excluding state shareholding in PSG, of course.
