The Ministry of the Environment informs that on April 30, Sunday, it will be allowed to fish for pike and use fish as bait. Fishing for pike and using the fish as bait is prohibited until and including April 30, which is a Sunday this year, so the ban will no longer be valid on this day.

During one fishing trip, one fisherman is allowed to take two caught pike, not smaller than 50 cm in size.

From May 1 (inclusive) the provision of the Amateur Fishing Rules will come into effect, prohibiting fishing with floats for amateur fishing gear that is not attached to a rod and that is fished with a hook. An exception applies to ice fishing. This means that in open water it will no longer be possible to use the so-called “discs”, “pops”, etc.

This ban was prompted by repeated cases of fishermen not complying with the limit on the number of fishing gears and leaving them unattended. It is expected that the restriction coming into force will contribute to the improvement of the status of predatory fish stocks.

We remind you that until May 15 it is still prohibited to fish for bream and sardines until May 31. – fertilizer. Until May 20 it is mandatory to release all bream caught in the water bodies of the Nemunas Delta Regional Park, except in polders. It is also prohibited to fish in the 400 m zone around the Dabinta peninsula in the Kaunas lagoon.
