The President of the Lebanese Pharmacists Syndicate, Dr. Joe Salloum, announced in a statement, “The expansion of the smuggled drug trade in Lebanon has led to a decline in the import of legal medicine to almost a quarter, which has led to a decline in the Pharmacists Syndicate’s revenues, for which there is no income left except for the small fee deducted from the import, and thus the impossibility of Its ability to do justice to its employees, including pharmacists and employees, as well as retired pharmacists who receive a monthly pension that is not sufficient for a decent retirement life for which they have worked for more than thirty years.
He appealed once once more to those concerned to deal seriously with the phenomenon of smuggling and to stop the policy of turning a blind eye.
