The Peugeot e-308 SW is available to order

This is the very first electric station wagon from a European brand

The grumpy people will tell us that there already exists an electric station wagon in Europe. But there is nothing European regarding the MG5: it is built by an English brand (or rather a Chinese group) and produced in China. No, the real first 100% European electric station wagon is indeed a Peugeot. The e-308 SW finally arrives in the catalog more than a year following its announcement at the 2022 Paris Motor Show. An eternity which would reveal Stellantis’ difficulty in launching its electric models? The 156 hp version of the new electric motor (which equips the e-308 SW) actually took some time to land under the hood of the e-208 and the 2008 electric. But it’s done: the 308 battery station wagon is there, and Peugeot has chosen two finishing levels for the moment.

Test of the Peugeot e-308: electric perhaps, but 308 above all!

From €43,900

Electric station wagon and sedan are sold at the same price© Peugeot

Usually station wagons are a little more expensive than sedans. But Peugeot has decided to sell the e-308 SW at the price of the sedan. The customer will therefore have the choice without wondering if the additional cost of the station wagon is worth it. The two trim levels offered on the electric version are Allure and GT. At the time of writing, the price of the GT is not yet displayed on the configurator, but that of the Allure is: €43,900, and €42,590 if you opt to purchase by the Peugeot Store. Including the bonus, you will therefore have to count on €38,900 excluding options. The lion manufacturer takes the opportunity to offer the home charging station and an additional €400 discount with a simple reduction voucher displayed on the site.

For the moment, it is very difficult to position this e-308 SW which is, to say the least, unique since the only competition is the MG5. The Sino-British starts at €37,490 in Luxury finish with the range extended to 380 km, which is the configuration closest to that of its French rival. On paper, the 308 electric station wagon is therefore “expensive” for the moment, but the segment is still too nascent to draw any conclusions. Above all, it will be necessary to observe the first leasing contracts to get an idea of the residual value of this e-308 SW which has free rein ahead of it: no electric station wagon is on the horizon in Europe for a long time, apart from a Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer which is not at all compact. If you are allergic to SUVs and want to switch to electromobility, this is an interesting offer.
