The Peshawar High Court reserved its decision on the Election Commission’s request regarding the bat symbol

In the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intra-party election and election symbol case, the Peshawar High Court reserved its decision on the Election Commission’s supplementary petition. Justice Ejaz Khan of Peshawar High Court heard the application.

The counsel for the Election Commission argued that the Election Commission is seeking a review of the High Court’s decision, the Election Commission issued a notice to the PTI because the intra-party elections were not conducted properly by the PTI.

The lawyer argued that the powers of the Election Commission were questioned and it was said that the decision of the Election Commission was unconstitutional while the single bench suspended the decision of the Election Commission regarding the election symbol, issuing an injunction without hearing the Election Commission. While the Election Commission was a party to it, it was not heard.

The lawyer further said that the federal government is not a party in this case, nor does it have any role in the election commission. Nothing is left, such a decision cannot be given without hearing the Election Commission.

Advocate General argued that we do not want to be a party in this case, we are caretaker provincial government and all parties are equal for us, so we have nothing to do with it, our name should be deleted from it. If notice is issued to us then we will provide judicial assistance.

Justice Ijaz Khan questioned that the federal government also has the same position, to which the Additional Attorney General said that yes, we have the same position.

The court reserved the decision after hearing the arguments of the lawyer Election Commission.
