Who is Kemal Blech Daroglu?
74-year-old Kemal Bilic Daroglu is the head of the Republican People’s Party and the unanimous candidate of the 6-party opposition coalition in Turkey’s recent presidential election. Kemal Kilic was born in December 1948 in the eastern city of Tonjeli, Turkey. His mother was an ordinary housewife and his father was a government employee. He had seven siblings of which he is the fourth.
Kamal Qalich’s father used to study in schools wherever he was transferred due to his job. Wherever he went he demonstrated his intelligence and ability and later studied economics at Ankara University.
He worked for many years as a civil servant in Turkey’s financial institutions and earned a reputation for rooting out corruption as director of a major social security agency.

Kemal Kilic Daroglu is considered to be a very experienced politician in Turkey. He was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2002, the same year that Erdogan’s ruling Justice and Development Party, abbreviated as AK Party, came to power. He survived several violent attacks, earning him a reputation as Turkey’s most-attacked politician.
He has lost several elections since taking over the leadership of the Republican People’s Party, locally known as the Jamhurit Khalq Party (CHP) in 2010.
