Instead of making them “soaked” by the weather, as they expected, it finally did… Patrino Carnival: It caused intense discomfort and bitterness to the 35 choir members and the attendants of the Greek High School of Corfu, who traveled to Patras for yesterday’s much-publicized music-dance performance ” One more song!” of KEDIP, the position of the Carnival Organization.
The event was suddenly canceled around 4 yesterday followingnoon, citing the possibility of rain, but without the slightest communication between the president or any of her representatives, with the Corfu choirs!
Who, it should be noted, they traveled, ate and stayed in Patras at their own expense!
THE father conductor of the choir Periklis Papadopoulosspeaking to “Peloponnisos” newspaperdid not hide his disappointment: “They brought us from Corfu, suddenly canceled the event a few hours before its start and the president of the Carnival Organization, or one of her partners, didn’t even bother to call us to explain what happened! This is rude.
The elemental kindness and hospitality of the organizers required at least some communication from them with us! Which never happened! We were informed that the event will be cancelled, by the fellow conductor of En Patras Lefkadios…”.
Mr. Papadopouloswhich among others is the creator of the historical carnival-folkloric record “Hear-Hear”, wonders why KEDIP had not planned a covered area, in case of rain: “In all outdoor winter events of the municipalities, it is usual for the organizers to have foreseen that in case of rain, the event is moved to a covered area. Here, as it turned out, they left such an event at the mercy of the weather…”.
At the event, the choir and orchestra of the Cantadores “Santa Maura” of En Patras Lefkadi under the direction of Dimitra Apsomotou will also participate and Dance Department of the Municipality of Patreon. While before the concert, the ensembles were going to perform a singing parade in the center of the city.
For the record, finally… it didn’t rain and the show might go on as normal!
