On November 4, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, officially signed relevant ship delivery documents with CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd. and its affiliated Aida Cruise Co., Ltd., and the first domestically produced large cruise ship “Aida… “Modu Hao” was named and delivered, and operational preparations were fully launched. Tickets for the maiden voyage have been on sale since September 20, and the cruise is expected to make its maiden voyage on January 1, 2024.

The naming and delivery of the first domestically produced large-scale cruise ship marks that my country has become a country that has gathered the “three pearls” of the shipbuilding industry and can simultaneously build aircraft carriers, large-scale liquefied natural gas carriers, and large-scale cruise ships. China State Shipbuilding Corporation has thus become the fourth shipbuilding group in the world to successfully design and build large cruise ships.

It is reported that the Aida Magic City has a total tonnage of 135,500 tons, a length of 323.6 meters, and a width of 37.2 meters. The ship has 20 decks and 2,826 cabins, including 2,125 cabins. It can carry 5,246 passengers and is equipped with up to The 16-story, 40,000-square-meter living and entertainment public area is known as a “modern maritime city.”

In November 2018, at the first China International Import Expo, a cooperative design and construction contract for the 135,500-ton Vista-class cruise ship was officially signed, and the project was officially launched.

A series of key core technologies throughout the entire life cycle of cruise ships, such as center of gravity, safe return to port, power systems, and integrated power grids, have formed the design and construction of large cruise ships and complex giant system engineering management capabilities, and continued to build the Chinese standard system for the cruise industry.

At the naming and delivery ceremony, Fan Jinshi, winner of the national honorary title of “Outstanding Contributor to Cultural Relics Protection” and honorary president of the Dunhuang Academy, served as the ambassador for the launch of China’s first large-scale cruise ship, naming the “Ada·Magic City” and launching the champagne bottle throwing present. So far, the first domestic large-scale cruise ship “Aida·Modu” has been successfully named and delivered following 8 years of scientific research and 5 years of design and construction.
