We are living difficult times in our country. Times in which many circumstances make things seem confusing to us and it is difficult for us to be able to interpret what is happening around us.
The great Argentine writer José Ingenieros said: “Man is the architect of his own destiny.” It is clear that many have built poorly: the plumb line was not located correctly and, therefore, the wall was raised crooked.
As we all know, mistakes are paid for and you have to face the consequences. We also understand that history repeats itself and that there is nothing new under the sun. In the Bible, the prophet Habakkuk says: “…for this reason the law is weakened and judgment does not proceed according to the truth, because the wicked besieges the righteous; that is why justice comes out crooked” (Habakkuk, chapter 1, verse 4).
These words spoken by the prophet were pronounced a long time ago and, nevertheless, they are very topical. They are words that we might have recently read in a newspaper or heard on a radio or television newscast.
Human beings have always had wrong behaviors, which unfortunately ended up harming society as a whole. Faced with this constant situation, they tried in one way or another to seek peace, but evidently until today it has been quite difficult for them to achieve it.
For example, there is a lot of talk about “peace in the Middle East”, a peace that despite the fact that the impossible is being done to achieve it, has not yet been achieved. Christians believe that peace is in being able to meet Jesus. He is peace and everyone who approaches him will undoubtedly find it.
God is not human: he is God; he thinks and acts not as a human but as God. Being a perfect being, he is the only one who can grant the human being the long-awaited true and permanent peace that he seeks and that, inevitably, he will find.
Despite what I see and hear, I have a hopeful vision regarding the future. The sacred scriptures say that “God specializes in impossible things.” Therefore, he can, with his intervention, solve what is impossible for the human being. It is the great help we need. God bless you.
