The PCBs of the NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti cards planned to accommodate the RTX 4000?

Graphics cards NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti has barely been released when we already have our eyes set on future maps NVIDIA RTX 4000. And as revealed by Igor WALLOSEK ofIgor’s Lab it could be that the PCB is almost identical between the 3090 Ti and some of the future boards. So that builders can reuse the same PCB, let’s see it all.

RTX 3090 Ti: the PCB could be a test version for the firm’s future cards

In any case, this is what the visuals of the various PCBs of the RTX 3090 Ti cards that we can discover seem to reveal. According to our colleague Igor WALLOSEK, NVIDIA would have distributed to its partners information on future power standards, but would also have given a special BIOS of 600 Watts. All this with the aim of starting the development of future cooling systems for the next cards codenamed AD102, aka Ada Lovelace.

Moreover, some manufacturers like ZOTAC, MSI or even EVGA have already integrated support for future chips on their PCBs. Indeed, we can see on the images below that the locations for the power sockets are already planned, but also the VRAMS. You can even see the locations of missing MOFSETS. In short, all you have to do is put the future chip on the PCB and the cards would be ready! Does this mean that the 4000 series could arrive soon? Remember that according to the latest rumors the RTX 4090, RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 would arrive in September.

But one could also assume that the brands are getting ahead without really having any information from NVIDIA. In any case, we could assume it before discovering the PCB of the 3090 Ti Founders Edition which has the same particularities. Indeed, we can see that slots are already ready to accommodate components in order to increase the power of the PCB and therefore of the chip. Note also that until now this V-shaped PCB was unique to NVIDIA, but now on the RTX 3090 Ti some partner brands are also using this design.

The PCB of the MSI RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X is it slightly different. Indeed, it has only one power connector. But the card is designed to support the 600W PCIe Gen5 standard if needed.

But this does not end here ! Indeed, Igor’s Lab was also able to discover that the power connector is set to a power of 450W, but that it will be possible to modify it via a PJP1 jumper in order to place it on 600W. For the moment the jumper is not installed on the PCBs of the RTX 3090 Ti, but the location is well planned.

We already know (even if it remains rumors) that the next cards from NVIDIA should approach 600 Watts of power to operate. And, custom cards could even exceed them, which will require manufacturers to put at least two 16-pin connectors. Which obviously they have already started doing. We even saw Galax put two PCie Gen5 connectors on its RTX 3090 Ti HOF.
