The Paris Air Show is witness to the recovery of the aviation industry after the crisis

The first French air show, Le Bourget, saw billions of dollars in orders for commercial aircraft and provided some support to suppliers as air travel returned strongly after a four-year hiatus due to the Corona pandemic.

Announced orders were near record levels, dominated by Indigo and Air India in India, the world’s fastest growing market.

Economic growth and a growing middle class have made India the latest arena for airline deals worth tens of billions of dollars, although exact prices have not been disclosed.

Airbus and Boeing revealed orders for about 1,100 aircraft, of which about 830 belonged to Airbus, led by a deal of 500 aircraft for Indigo.

“This market will feed a lot of entities in our industry, and we would love to be the first to be there for a long time, if not unexpected events,” said Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer of Airbus.

But these fell short of some market expectations of 2,000 orders, to the delight of some analysts who noted less ostentation and more realistic needs than at previous shows, from an industry exhausted from a pandemic that almost imploded.
