In a painful tragedy, Deir ez-Zor governorate in northeastern Syria lived through difficult hours following a young man and a girl tragically ended their lives.
The story began following the girl’s family (JA) rejected a young man who proposed to her, forcing her to marry another man who was years older than her and who had two other wives and children.
The girl decided to end her life and kill herself, so she fired her father’s pistol in her head.
He killed himself at her funeral
Things did not end there. One day following the girl’s departure, the young lover decided to catch up with her, on the principle that “life did not bring them together, so let the grave unite them.”
To end his life, the young man (PBUH) stood at his lover’s funeral and in the middle of the road in front of the mourners, took out a pistol and emptied a lead comb in his head, killing him, according to what was reported by local Syrian media.
The information also indicated that the two families refused to marry off the children because of an old vendetta between them.

This incident shook the Syrian community during the past hours, and its details were transmitted through social media.
It is noteworthy that the northern region of Syria has always witnessed similar incidents of this kind, and many other killings under the name of “honour”.
This is due, firstly, to the insecurity, especially with the widespread weapons among civilians, and secondly to the lack of a strong authority of law in that area, not to mention the difficult customs, traditions and legacies of some there.
