The Palestinian Prime Minister discusses with the Bahraini Foreign Minister developments in Gaza

Palestine – The new Palestinian Prime Minister, Muhammad Mustafa, yesterday, Wednesday, discussed with the Bahraini Foreign Minister, Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to an ongoing Israeli war for regarding 6 months.

This came during a phone call that Mustafa, who also holds the position of Foreign Minister, received from Al-Zayani, according to the official Bahrain News Agency.

The agency said that the two sides discussed “the historical fraternal relations existing between the two brotherly countries, and ways to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields in a way that achieves the common interests of the two countries, in addition to developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, and their repercussions on regional security and stability and the lives of the civilian population in the Strip.”

The agency quoted Al-Zayani as affirming his country’s support “for the Palestinian cause, advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom, dignity and justice, and the Kingdom’s support for the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.”

Al-Zayani praised “the initiative of the Palestinian leadership to submit a request to the Security Council to accept the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations (Tuesday).”

In turn, Mustafa expressed his appreciation for “Bahrain’s firm, principled positions on the Palestinian issue and its continued support for the rights of the Palestinian people.”

In a related context, Mustafa received a phone call from Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, during which the latter affirmed Rome’s support for the Palestinian Authority, the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, and Italy’s position in support of the two-state solution and achieving peace, according to the official Palestinian news agency “Wafa.”

Tajani also stressed the importance of continuing work to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and enhance the delivery of humanitarian aid.

On March 28, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas granted confidence to the new government headed by Muhammad Mustafa, making it the 19th government in the country’s history.

On the 14th of the same month, Abbas had assigned Mustafa to form a new government, succeeding Muhammad Shtayyeh, who submitted the resignation of his government last February, and it was transformed into a caretaker government.
