In May, as part of the PlayStation Showcase, the creators of Halo and Destiny presented their new project: the looter shooter Marathon. And now representatives of Bungie told the portal Insider Gaming a number of details regarding the future game. The gameplay of the shooter will seem familiar to all fans of Escape from Tarkov. Teams of three or more people clash in the game, and the main feature of the fight will be the oxygen system. All players will have a limited supply of oxygen at the very beginning, and lack of it will lead to loss of health and death. The oxygen system is somewhat related to the Marathon injury system. Certain injuries cause different effects on the player, for example, an injury to the waist can damage the oxygen supply, causing it to deplete more quickly. Oxygen canisters can be found during the fight, and between battles they can be replenished in the market. And saving up supplies will help skills and perks that include less oxygen consumption or faster movement. Bungie is aiming to make Marathon a live service, which is why we have minimal load times. And for replay value, Marathon maps will have a lot of secrets, and presumably more will appear throughout the game seasons. Players will be able to loot three different types of items: trophies, implants, and perks. A feature will be irreversible death in a fight, but at the same time, players will lose only trophies – weapons, artifacts, currency. Implants are lost only occasionally, and mined perks will never be lost. Marathon is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. The game has no release date yet.
