The owner of Superga grows 34% in 2022 and exceeds pre-pandemic sales

BasicNet closes a year of growth. The Italian group that owns Kappa and Superga ended the 2022 financial year with a 34% increase in its aggregate sales, up to 1,270 million euros, as it announced today in its results presentation.

“The growth in income is due to both an increase in prices and a greater amount of product sold,” explained Federico Trono, the company’s general director. The group’s gross operating result (ebitda) stood at sixty million euros, which represents an annual growth of 38%.

The company, controlled by the Boglione family, billed around 902 million euros through its direct business27% more while revenue through licenses amounted to 371.1 million euros, an increase of 54.8%.

The group has a portfolio of 26 companies including BasicItalia, Kappa, Superga, Sebago and BasicNet Asia. During the year, it acquired 100% of the French company K-Way, specialized in fashion distribution outdoor for women, men and children. The company also invested 9.9 million euros in the real estate sector.

BasicNet has noted the “excellent” performance of all its brands and markets where it operates. Specifically, the group has highlighted the good performance in Europe, which represents 68% of revenue and where turnover rose 26.9% in the year.

In Asia and Oceania, which accounts for 8% of sales, the group increased its turnover by 40.4%. In the Middle East and Africa, the income of the Italian group registered an increase of 29.9% in the year and in America, the growth was 18.6%.

BasicNet took its first steps in 1916 by the hand of Abramo VitaleGuglielmo Marengo and Ettore Gaetano Donn, who started the Calzificio Torinese company, specializing in the manufacture of socks and other textile clothing.

After the Cazificio Torinese factory was destroyed during World War II, the company revived in 1958 with the launch of the Kappa brand, specializing in sportswear.
