“As a result of heavy rains following the passage of Hurricane Beryl, the Manzanares River overflowed in the municipality of Montes, Sucre state. We have activated reinforcements from Civil Protection and firefighters. By order of President Nicolás Maduro, emergency logistical support is being reinforced,” said the Minister of Interior and Justice, Remigio Ceballos.
Ceballos said that at least 6,000 homes were directly affected by the floods. He also noted that 3,600 officials are deployed to respond to the emergency.
At noon, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reported that since the early hours of July 2, he had been in contact with the governor, mayor and other authorities of Sucre, responding to emergencies arising from the heavy rainfall caused by Hurricane Beryl.
Through his X account, he mentioned that the river overflow has affected several communities in the state of Sucre. “All my support and solidarity. The security and rescue forces are active and alert in the most affected areas to assist the people in real time and in a timely manner,” he said.

Crime journalist Roman Camacho reported that officials from the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), together with Civil Protection rescue teams and volunteer groups, are helping the affected people.
The governor of Sucre state, Gilberto Pinto, said that the sectors with the most damage due to the rising river are: La Fragua, the Blanco neighborhood, José Antonio de Sucre Avenue, Las Tinajitas, Trincheras, Los Cedros and Palenque.
Gilberto Pinto also announced the temporary closure of access to Cumanacoa from Cumaná and Monagas state.
According to reports on social media, residents of Cumanacoa carried out relief efforts for people who were trapped in the floods.

In the early evening, moderate rainfall with electrical discharges is expected in areas of Essequibo, Amazonas, Bolívar, northern Monagas, Sucre, Yaracuy, western and central plains, Lara and the Andes.
