The outrageous letter with which they ask to exclude the daughters of Daniel Quintero from school in Medellín

On the morning of this Wednesday, a letter was published by parents of the German school Deutsche Schule de Medellín, in which they expressed their disagreement with the directives of the institution for admitting to the campus the daughters of the now suspended mayor of the city, Daniel Quintero.

In the letter they stated that “the admission of Quintero Osorio’s family to the school surprised them (…) since the opposition of the values and principles that the family professes and distinguishes them is evident.”

Understanding that, “the school is made great by the fact that the children are good as an inseparable product of how good the professed principles should be. and practiced by the belonging families”, he says.

The trill by Daniel Quintero was immediate. On his official Twitter account, he commented that he receives this announcement with “pain in his soul”, while his wife, Diana Osorio, assured SEMANA that they have not yet communicated with the school, but “It’s very sad to see the division and hate that starts in parenting.”

However, in the statement the parents express that it is not regarding political parties or ideological positions, but regarding their ‘fame’. “The Quintero Osorio family has become publicly famous for systematically and brazenly attacking, discrediting, dishonoring and seeking to destroywithout any proof, any social and business structure founded on the great values that we have admired for years and of which we feel immensely proud”, they continue.

school response

In this regard, Anke Käding, rector of the Colegio Alemán, assured SEMANA that its sole purpose is to provide quality education as a fundamental right.

“Our philosophy and the principles that guide to the training of our students are associated with critical thinking, pluralism, respect for difference and democracy, we are an apolitical school”, he commented.

The director specified that in this case, the students will not be expelled; On the contrary, they hope to provide them with comfort in educational environments, just like other children, so they have a group of professionals in psychology at their disposal to deal with any problems that may arise. The institution highlighted its “belief in the values of democracy.”

“Regarding the case of the Quintero family, we are not going to make a decision, until now, because we believe in our values and democracy,” the director stressed.

The official letter ends by saying that, “with this letter we express to the board that in our opinion, there is a decision that outrages us and borders on an affront to the majority of families we find that what we want to instill in our children is achieved with a different scale of values”.

However, Käding stressed that it was a minority of parents who made this claim, a total of 23. It is worth noting that the two minors were admitted, but only one is currently studying, since the admission process lasts around 2 years. .

The minor entered in January of this year. The institution currently has 1,100 students.

The institution will send a statement this followingnoon in response to the parent request. Meanwhile, on social networks, the community has expressed its rejection of this unfortunate situation, which Diana Osorio pointed out as an act of classism, fascism, xenophobia and aporophobia. “I am sure of the liberal values that I want to leave my daughters, hopefully the rest too,” she said on her Twitter account.
