The outdoor sauna of Thermes Sané in Tongres, a few minutes from Liège, caught fire: the premises will reopen on Monday

Many residents of Liège regularly go to the Thermes Sané in Tongeren, not far from the border of our province. This weekend, Saturday around 11 a.m., the establishment suffered a fire.

“It is at the level of our outdoor sauna, the large one which is located near the swimming pool, that it happened”, we explain on the spot.

“For the time being, we do not yet know how to give the origin of the incident. The fire was spotted very quickly and, according to the first observations, it is at the level of the wood that it would have taken, without certainty yet…” An expert went down on the spot and a report is awaited. This Saturday, the firefighters intervened quickly: around sixty people had to be evacuated but, fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Call for a specialized company

The material damage, on the other hand, is very present. “But they are limited to this outdoor sauna”, we are told once more. An important cleaning must however be done in order to welcome customers as well as possible. Reason why the thermal baths are currently closed. They are expected to reopen next Monday, March 6. “We cannot do this work ourselves and must wait for a specialized company which should intervene this Thursday and Friday. Logically, everything will be back to normal. Otherwise, we will specify it on our Facebook page and people who have reservations will of course be notified. »

The restaurant, the treatment rooms, the swimming pool and the terrace as well as all the other thermal infrastructures will be easily accessible. “With the closure of the large sauna, beware, our capacity has nevertheless been reduced. It is always better to book well, especially since we are almost full in the weeks to come. »

As for the sauna concerned, it will of course be rebuilt. The time of work should take 3 to 4 months.
