The Togolese Revenue Office (OTR) provides a formal denial of the information circulating on social networks and according to which, seven (07) containers of damaged fish would be unloaded at the Autonomous Port of Lomé and placed on the market.

This is information devoid of any foundation, according to the OTR, which decides to file a complaint against X. Moreover, the authors of this false information are actively sought to answer for their actions before the competent courts.

“We have not recorded at all lately, this year or last year, a shipment of this large scale at the Autonomous Port of Lomé. I don’t think it’s really in Togo because the destruction protocol is known to everyone and if it was here, we would all have had the information and the media would surely be invited to this destruction operation,” said indeed indicated the Director of Customs Operations at the Autonomous Port of Lomé, Customs Colonel Moïse AKAYA this Sunday, April 16, 2023 on the set of Togolese national television (TVT).

“This audio element was not well analyzed by those who relayed and transformed the information. Otherwise it did not happen in Togo and I affirm that we did not receive containers of damaged products in Togo. It happened in a country where the authorities largely informed the population about the situation,” he said.

He took the opportunity to recall one of the key missions of customs which is security through all the checks carried out at the customs cordons.

In addition, several measures exist for the phytosanitary control of goods at the port of Lomé and the Ministry of Maritime Economy, Fisheries and Coastal Protection ensures their strict application in order to prevent the entry of such cargoes into this port. port platform.
