The situation became known when a health brigade arrived at the shelter and detected the conditions of the minors. The distance of the shelter, located two days from the city center, has made access to essential medical services difficult, which led to the activation of emergency protocols to transfer them to medical centers.

Two of them were taken by helicopter to the General Hospital of Medellin, and one of the minors, who is 19 months old, was in a particularly critical condition due to malnutrition and associated medical complications.

According to the latest report from the Antioquia Governorate, the children in the General Hospital are undergoing medical treatment. Fortunately, the 19-month-old child has overcome the critical phase and is stable. On the other hand, the child with leishmaniasis continues to receive treatment for the lesions on his body and is still in the process of diagnosis to determine the extent of his condition.
