**María Corina Machado, accompanied by candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, described it as “very serious”***
Opposition leader María Corina Machado denounced yesterday from Zulia state that the National Electoral Council (CNE) is “preventing the mass accreditation of electoral witnesses.” The leader assured that this is “very serious” just five days before the presidential election, and therefore urged the international community and citizens to be attentive to this complaint. “They have gone so far as to prevent the accreditation of witnesses, this has been denounced, we must exert our pressure because it is our right,” she said at a press conference.
Machado said that the movement she leads, together with presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, aims to “achieve the transformation of Venezuela into peace and respect.” She also accused the administration of Nicolás Maduro of promoting violence. “In the face of chaos and violence, we represent peace and unity,” she said.
“What is happening is so powerful, migrants want to return, this conflict is an issue that we have to resolve (…) if Maduro, by force, which is the only thing he has left, remains in power, we will see a bigger wave of migration,” he warned.
On the other hand, members of the opposition confirmed the difficulties in the accreditation process for July 28, 2024. In this regard, since yesterday, Delsa Solórzano, leader of Encuentro Ciudadano and witness of the Electoral Board, indicated that they have presented “enormous difficulties” to massively download the credentials of witnesses in the system of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
Juan Carlos Caldera, a substitute witness before the National Electoral Board of the CNE, indicated that the problem has been recorded even with witnesses registered and loaded with the system. In light of this, the politician emphasized the need to “fix this problem.”
