The operator with the fastest mobile network in Colombia in 2021 | Companies | Business

The Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC) published the 2021 consolidated results of measurements of the quality of fixed and mobile Internet services from the user experience.

In this report, the CRC emphasized the average download and upload speed on mobile networks, that is, the speeds at which users upload and download information to the Internet, or upload photos or videos to Facebook or Instagram.

According to these results, Tigo posted the best average download speed at 24.8 Mbps, followed by WOM con 16,9 Mbps; clear con 16,1 Mbps; Advance con 14,6 Mbps; Movistar con 14,3 Mbps y ETB con 14 Mbps.

From the point of view of the capitals, Montería, Cartagena and Barranquilla presented the highest average download speeds for 2021; with 22.6 Mbps, 22.2 Mbps and 21.2 Mbps respectively.

Regarding the upload speed, according to the CRC, Tigo recorded the best average upload speed in 2021 with 13.3 Mbps; followed by clear con 9,2 Mbps; Movistar con 8,8 Mbps, Advance con 8,6 Mbps; ETB con 8 Mbps y WOM con 7,6 Mbps.

Pasto, Montería and Barranquilla recorded the highest averages for upload speed in 2021, with 12 Mbps, 11.9 Mbps and 11.7 respectively.

“These results can only be achieved by investing in Colombia. In 2021, our investments amounted to more than 1.2 billion pesos, which is equivalent to regarding 23% of its income. We managed to install more than 2,200 antennas, generating greater coverage with our 700Mhz spectrum (awarded in 2019) and a better experience. Our 4G population coverage at the national level reached 80%, covering more than 97% of the urban population of the country and achieving more than 42% of the traffic on this technologyhighlighted Marcelo Cataldo, president of Tigo.
