The operation to detach and tow the yacht that ran aground on Good Friday in Spetses is in full progress
There are two private tugboats, a diving crew and a floating crane on the island. The first move was to create a barrier to deal with possible oil pollution, while as the port master vice-captain Panagiotis Maridakis pointed out, the entire amount of oil has been removed from the yacht’s moorings.
According to the plan that had been prepared, the divers examined the reefs of the ship and, now, efforts are being made to “lift” the vessel from the floating crane in order to tow it and take it to a shipyard.
The situation has been facilitated by the removal of the yachts that were on the side of the pier where the accident occurred.
Now, it is only a matter of time before the operation is completed safely in cooperation with the Coast Guard, whose entire staff is on the scene from the first moment. According to the weather forecast, the winds are expected to weaken from the followingnoon on the island of Argosaronicos.
