After a conclusive visit to Paris yesterday, Adel El Fakir and his team are today, Thursday February 3, 2022 in London to meet the leaders of the global airline and travel giant EasyJet as well as the heads of the Association of Agencies of British Travel and Tour Operators – ABTA.
The United Kingdom being the 4th outbound market for the Kingdom, and the 2nd market in terms of overnight stays. The working meeting with Garry Wilson, director of EasyJet and CEO of EasyJet Holidays, confirmed EasyJet’s commitments in terms of capacity to Morocco.
The company intends to resume its programming of Moroccan destinations from this month of February. The programs for the Summer season (April-November 2022) are promising. EasyJet having planned to deploy an offer of 75 flights per week connecting Morocco to 6 European markets: the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The company also plans an 11% increase in its capacity set up in the summer of 2019, through the programming of 20 routes for the summer 2022 season.
For the Director General of the Office: “We are very confident. It was essential for us to reaffirm our common vision and take stock in order to continue to consolidate trust with all British air transport and travel players in a sustainable way. This was already the case before the crisis and it will continue to gain momentum”.
At ABTA headquarters in London, ONMT’s Chief Executive met with the corporation’s Chairman, Mark Tanzer; a meeting which made it possible to lay the groundwork for an imminent resumption of distribution activity on the British market and to reassure tour operators of all the measures undertaken by the sector for a lasting and safe reactivation, in particular thanks to the entry conditions recently confirmed by the Moroccan authorities.
The President of ABTA expressed his satisfaction following the constructive exchanges with the ONMT, and signified his confidence by reaffirming the holding of its next General Assembly in Marrakech in October 2022. An event initially planned for 2020 and postponed due to the pandemic.
Pour Adel El Fakir : “These meetings are crucial because the British market is extremely important to us. Today, we are more than ever determined to recover our position and do everything we can to develop the full potential of this high value-added market”.
Through this visit to London, which also included several exchanges with the English media, the Moroccan National Tourist Office confirms its objective of positioning Morocco among the favorite destinations of the British and is thus part of an aggressive approach to reconquer the major source markets for tourists to Morocco.
