“The only Chilean…”: the emotional words of Jorge Valdivia after Jean Beausejour’s retirement

A few days ago, it was confirmed that Jean Beausejour, two-time champion of America with La Roja and currently a player for Coquimbo Unido, is retiring from professional football.

Given this news, his colleague and friend, Jorge “Magician” Valdivia, who is currently burning his last magic cartridges in the Mexican Necaxa, dedicated some emotional words to him.

“My partner retired on the court and friend off it,” he wrote on Twitter. “There were many years concentrating together, living together as well.”

Both took their first steps in professionalism together, at the University of Concepción, where they had outstanding performances in 2003. Years later, they were important figures in La Roja, being part of the teams that competed in South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and the 2015 America’s Cup.

Even in 2011 both starred in the remembered and controversial episode of Baptizazo, together with Carlos Carmona, Gonzalo Jara and Arturo Vidal.

“A pity is always reaching these moments where we stop doing what we are passionate regarding, but I know very well that it was your best decision,” he stressed. Now, “it’s time to thank all the years lived on the field.”

“Because it is there that we lose our society, friend, but outside we remain the same” outside of it, he clarified.

Of course, he stressed that “Palmatoria” is “the historic one”, for being the “only Chilean to nail in two World Cups”, referring to the goals he scored once morest Honduras (2010) and Australia (2014).

“By-bye, Coliqueo 15″, he closed. “I’ll be arriving soon.”
