“Songwriting is a mysterious thing,” says Jackson Browne. And he adds: “Sometimes, it feels a bit like consulting the oracle.” It is with these few words that the bio on his website begins regarding his career and his new album. ”Downhill From Everywhere” has been out for a year now. A rather discreet release in Europe, much less in the USA, fortunately.
This album, his 15th studio album, brought new blood to such a rich career. Because it’s been a few years since Jackson Browne offered anything new to his fans. I’m always fascinated when I think back to his beginnings, in the mid-60s in Los Angeles, he was 16, and he wrote this masterpiece ”These Days”, which would be sung by Nico in 1967, then by d others like Glen Campbell. Then this career which takes off with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and the Eagles for whom he co-wrote ”Take It Easy”.
