The reduction of 200 euros and the heating premium of 100 euros come up once morest practical difficulties. As a reminder, on March 15, the De Croo government promised all families who heat themselves with oil, propane or butane that they would benefit from an automatic reduction of 200 euros on their bill. And retroactivity was announced for those who have filled up since January 1.
Since this announcement, fuel oil deliverers have been bombarded with questions. And some customers even go so far as to deduct these 200 euros from the invoice themselves. “It is to be avoided, because it is a default of payment, and to receive the 200 euros, you will need proof of payment”, declares Johan Mattart, director general of the Belgian Federation of traders in combustibles, Brafco, in the columns of L’Echo. He asks customers not to call suppliers regarding these 200 euros, given the lack of information on the practicalities.
A clarification might take place at the end of next week, following a consultation under the leadership of the cabinet of the Minister of the Economy Pierre-Yves Dermagne (PS) and a decision in the Council of Ministers. The law will then still have to be approved by Parliament – possibly in June. The measure will therefore not come into force before the summer.
Regarding the heating bonus of 100 euros promised in February by the government and which concerns all households, the practical arrangements are also still under discussion.
