The Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on Tuesday in Jeddah, stressed the centrality of the role of the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI, in confronting the dangerous practices of the occupation authorities Israelis in the city of Al-Quds Acharif.
The role played by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, chaired by the Sovereign, was also welcomed in the press release sanctioning the work of the extraordinary meeting of the said Committee and at which Morocco was represented by the Kingdom’s ambassador to Arabia. Saudi Arabia, permanent representative of the Kingdom to the OIC, Mustapha Mansouri and his deputy, Othmane Raho.
The meeting reaffirmed that the Al Aqsa Mosque, with its entire area of 144 dunams, is a pure place of worship for Muslims, protected by international law and its historical and legal status, stressing that the Endowment Department of Al Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs under the Ministry of Endowments, Holy Places and Islamic Affairs in Jordan is the authority authorized to manage the affairs of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Committee called on the OIC Member States to exert serious efforts to protect the occupied Holy City and its sacred places, especially the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, Al Aqods Acharif, and its people, and to defend it from the illegal attempts to alter the demographic composition, identity and current legal and historical situation, condemning the sanctions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities once morest the Palestinian people, their leaders and Palestinian civil organizations.
He also stressed the need to confront these measures and to support the Palestinian people in their just struggle, calling on Member States to mobilize their means in order to strengthen the capacities of the State of Palestine, to intensify efforts and coordinate their positions in international events.
The Committee affirmed its continuous monitoring of all developments related to Al-Quds, in particular the Holy Mosque, and to take appropriate measures in this regard, in accordance with the decisions of the Islamic Summit Congresses and the Councils of Foreign Ministers.
