The occupation launches a major operation in the northern West Bank, and the resistance confronts it

Palestine – The Israeli occupation army said that since the early hours of Wednesday morning, it has begun a large-scale military operation targeting militants in Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas in the northern occupied West Bank, while the Palestinian resistance factions announced that they had confronted the incursions and carried out qualitative operations.

Commenting on this military campaign, the official Israeli radio confirmed that the operation launched by the army in the northern West Bank is the largest since Operation “Defensive Shield” in 2002, and that it is being carried out with the participation of the air force and large forces.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the operation was extensive and on the level of a military division. It said that the Israeli internal security service (Shabak) and undercover forces joined the army in its operations, adding that the army is using helicopters and fighter jets extensively.

For its part, the Israeli Channel 14 said that the army has mobilized thousands of soldiers from special units in preparation for this large-scale operation, which mainly targets cities in the northern West Bank, and that special units from the army, the Border Guard, and a unit affiliated with the Shin Bet are participating in it. It confirmed that a large number of soldiers arrived at the Fara’a camp in Tubas on board military helicopters.

Referring to the reasons behind launching this large-scale military operation, the Israeli channel quoted military officials as saying that “the situation in the West Bank has become a source of serious concern for Israel.”

In response to the Israeli operation, the resistance factions announced that they had confronted the occupation forces in more than one area, and said that their fighters “targeted an enemy infantry force with a highly explosive device in the Nour Shams camp” in Tulkarm.

In turn, the Palestinian factions movement announced that its fighters “are engaged in violent clashes with the occupation forces, along with their brothers in the military wings of the resistance factions.” It added that the fighters “detonated locally-made, highly explosive explosive devices in Jenin against the invading military vehicles.”

Al Jazeera’s correspondent also said that Palestinian youths targeted occupation soldiers with a homemade bomb at the entrance to Al-Arroub camp, north of the city of Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

The reporter spoke about clashes and explosions with explosive devices in the towns of Salem, Qasra, and Beit Furik, south and east of the city of Nablus, as well as in the city of Tubas and the Far’a camp, and also in the city and camp of Jenin and the towns of Silat al-Harithiya and Qabatiya.

In Jenin, the correspondent said that the occupation forces closed all entrances to the city of Jenin with earth mounds and surrounded all hospitals in the city.

In Tulkarm, the correspondent added that resistance fighters targeted the occupation forces with locally-made, highly explosive explosive devices in the vicinity of Nour Shams camp.

The West Bank, which has been occupied by Israel since 1967, has witnessed an escalation in incursions, but the situation has escalated further since Israel launched its devastating and ongoing war 10 months ago on the Gaza Strip.

According to official Palestinian sources, Israeli attacks on the residents of the West Bank have left more than 640 martyrs and about 5,400 wounded since October 7.
