The number of warships in the Taiwan Strait has been “sharply reduced”

TAIPEI, Aug 11 (Archyde.com) – No more than 10 Chinese and Taiwanese warships were cruising near the center line of the Taiwan Strait on Thursday followingnoon, a source briefed on the situation said.

The number of buildings in the area has “significantly reduced” compared to previous days, according to this source.

Several Chinese navy ships continued missions off the east coast of Taiwan and near the Japanese island of Yonaguni, the source said.

Chinese fighter jets briefly crossed the unofficial boundary line between Taiwan and mainland China on Thursday, she added.

The Chinese army said Wednesday to have completed “successfully” its military maneuvers around Taiwan, which Beijing considers an integral part of Chinese territory.

China conducted the large-scale air and naval drills to protest the visit to the island last week by Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. (Report Yimou Lee, French version Jean-Stphane Brosse, said by Kate Entringer)
