The number of infections by Monkeypox in Santander rises to eight

Infections by Monkeypox multiply in Santander. The number of confirmed cases amounts to eight, according to the most recent report delivered by health authorities in the region.

There is concern regarding the spread of the virus and the increase in symptoms among the population such as fever, severe headache and rash.

The Secretary of Health of the Government of Santander this Tuesday confirmed the finding of four more cases of Monkeypox.

It is important to indicate that in Colombia 938 infections have been recorded to date, with Bogotá being the territory with the highest number of cases (697).

Javier Villamizar, Secretary of Health of Santander, specified that “the four new cases correspond to men, aged between 20 and 35 years, of which three are from Bucaramanga and one from Girón.”

At this time, the authorities are investigating the possible links and contacts of these four patients, to determine the origin of the infections.

In addition to the eight confirmed cases, there are two probable infections that are kept under medical observation to rule out or confirm that it is Monkeypox.

To date, a total of 29 suspected cases have been reported, 19 of which have already been ruled out.
