The number of deaths in Cumanacoa increased to 6

Six people died following the overflow of the Manzanares River located in CumanacoaSucre state.

The bodies were identified as:

Andrés Rafael Vallenilla, 64 years old.

Dilia Carpenter, 77 years old.

Anibal Eduardo Barreto, 35 years old.

Antonio Rafael Vallenilla, 73 years old.

Leandro Daniel Cortez, 50 years old.

Luisa Beltrana Carpenter, 53 years old.

Six days following the incident, the sole authority designated to address the effects of the Montes municipality, Major General Nayade Lockybi, reported that the number of people affected has risen to 29 thousand.

According to official records, 7,960 homes have suffered losses.

The municipality of Montes remains without water service due to damage to the main pipeline during the flood.

The governor of Sucre state, Gilberto Pinto, reported that service might be restored in the next few hours.

“We will have water in the town of Cumanacoa, but the turbidity does not allow us to provide it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Civil Protection and Fire Department officials, along with canine teams, continue the search for the missing.

More than 80 collection centers are receiving donations to assist those affected.
