The number 1722 activated due to a risk of storm or flood

The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) issued a yellow alert for the wind on Tuesday for the whole territory, from Wednesday 5 p.m. to Thursday 11 a.m. A yellow rain alert was also notified by the IRM for the provinces of Namur, Luxembourg and Liège from Tuesday followingnoon until Thursday inclusive.

The purpose of the 1722 is to prevent emergency numbers from being overwhelmed with calls for interventions which can however wait. In the event of storm damage or water damage for which the assistance of the fire brigade is required, this number should therefore be dialed. If a life is in danger, call 112.

The SPF also recommends using the 1722.be electronic counter, considered “the most direct way to request help from the firefighters in situations where no life is in danger”. “A request made via the e-counter is processed in the same way by the firefighters as a request made by calling 1722”, specify the services of the FPS Interior. “You will therefore not be helped more quickly by calling 1722.”

The authorities also recall that the emergency services will always give priority to situations potentially endangering the lives of citizens.
