It’s been a while since this feature was in beta, it’s now available for everyone: the ability to send photos and videos in HD.
The quality of photos sent on WhatsApp has always left something to be desired. Logic: the messaging service compresses the quality of the images to consume less data and transfer them faster.
A feature that had already been discovered in beta and has just been released will change everything. The feature is not yet available to all users, as it is being rolled out gradually. But for those who already have it, it will allow them to send photos in HD.
For the lucky ones: whether you take a photo or choose one from your image gallery, just click on the HD option at the top of your screen (to the left of the various icons present at the top right, and which allow to edit the photo) and to select the resolution of your choice.
And it’s not just limited to photos, because this new WhatsApp update also allows you to send high definition videos.
Note that we have noticed that this feature, which is available on both Android and iOS, is a bit capricious: sometimes it simply does not appear. All you have to do is undo the send, exit and then return to WhatsApp. Nothing very important, therefore, but we can hope that this little bug will be quickly resolved by Meta, since it is a fairly new feature.
