A happy encounter with good literature was had by those who attended the “Kostis Palamas” House of Letters on Wednesday night for the presentation of the new novel by Giorgos Sympardis “Klaithmonos Square”. Presentation that unfolded with particular interest, thanks to the suggestions of the four speaking authors.
Looking back at the work of Sympardis, Dimitris Daskalopoulos focused, among other things, on his mastery of suggestiveness, on the perfect linguistic utterance, paralleling him with Giorgos Vizyinos and Michael. Mitsaki.
Vassilis Ladas took the audience to the “heart” of the book – a coming-of-age story – illuminating elements of the case as well as the hero, referring to the author’s special way of storytelling.
Starting with 5 elements of technique in “Klathmonos Square”, Kostas Logaras spoke, among other things, regarding the “power of description”, the “care of the author to renew the words and phrases”, his skill to give “literary value to nothing”, while he read, indicatively, excerpts from the book.
Finally, the baton was taken by Antigone Doka, who shared what she experienced as a reader of “Platea Claithmonos”, emphasizing the human sensitive universality of Sympardis’ writing.
As for Giorgos Sympardis, he said disarmingly: “I heard so many things regarding the plot and my hero, none of it was in my mind”, explaining that the author’s wish is, of course, to meet with the readers, many times, however , reader, through the gaps of words, sees something the writer cannot see. “Possibly, then, all the speakers are right and the writer – every writer – is wrong,” he concluded.
The event, co-organized by the “Book Corner” bookstore and Metaichmio publications, was coordinated by the journalist of the “Peloponnisos” newspaper, Christy Kouninioti.
