Lhe President of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Alice Albright, and the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, accompanied by Saïd Ahmidouch, Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, and Governor from the prefecture of Casablanca, Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), and Malika Laasri, Managing Director of the MCA-Morocco Agency, paid a visit to field at the Institute for Training in Transport and Logistics Professions (IFMTL) in Nouaceur.
This institute, whose construction work has been completed, and which is in the process of acquiring equipment and recruiting its teaching and administrative staff, benefits from the support of the “Charaka” Fund, set up by the “Compact It”, concluded between the government of Morocco and the government of the United States, represented by MCC, and whose implementation has been entrusted to the MCA-Morocco Agency.
With an overall envelope of nearly 88 million DH, including a contribution of 62.5 million DH from the “Charaka” Fund, the IFMTL project in Nouaceur is supported by the Transport and Logistics Federation (FTL ) under the CGEM, in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, as well as the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
This partnership is in fact materialized by the creation of a public limited company, in this case the Management Company of Logistics Training Establishments (SGEFL), as the governance body of this VET within the framework of a public-private partnership ( PPP).
In a statement to the press, Minister Younes Sekkouri underlined that “the model of institutions with delegated management has shown for many of them that the integration rate exceeds 95%. The government is really determined to support this type of initiative so that it can first of all welcome our young people in very good conditions, offer them high-quality vocational training, but also support companies in order to improve their competitiveness, in particular through human resources, and this necessarily requires continuous training”.
Due to enter service during the next 2022-2023 training season, FMTL in Nouaceur will annually provide 830 educational seats, including 320 for initial training in promising sectors which concern in particular the organization of multimodal transport, the organization of flows in production logistics, logistics operation, warehouse management, maintenance of road transport vehicles and the operation and management of road transport (goods option).
With regard to qualifying training, the IFMTL will offer 510 educational seats annually, making it possible to strengthen the skills of trainees under the Mandatory Minimum Initial Qualification Training (FQIMO) and Mandatory Continuing Education (FCO) and in the driver’s job.
“Today we are celebrating the end of construction work on this institute, born of a public-private partnership with the Transport and Logistics Federation. We are very happy that despite restrictive situations, mainly the Covid, we still met the deadlines. From the next academic year, trainees will be able to begin their training, noting that the services of this institute are free”specified Malika Laasri, DG of MCA-Morocco.
For his part, the president of the CGEM, Chakib Alj, indicated that “The partnership between MCC and the CGEM is a solid partnership that affects several sectors, particularly with regard to vocational training and the integration of young people. I think that it no longer needs to be proven that when the private sector gets involved in training, the integration rate is very high”.
It should be recalled that the 15 projects receiving support from the “Charaka” Fund concern the creation of 9 EFPs and the extension, rehabilitation and/or conversion of 6 existing EFPs. These projects cover the sectors of agriculture & agro-industry, tourism, industry, crafts, construction, transport, logistics and health. These EFPs, which will train nearly 12,670 trainees annually, are located in six regions of the Kingdom, namely Casablanca-Settat, Fez-Meknes, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Drâa-Tafilalet, and the Oriental.
