Recently released on the market, the Nothing Phone (1) continues to blow hot and cold with its users. The question that is on the lips is the following: when the terminal will benefit from Android 13? The answer given by the founder of the brand is not pleasant.
We recently tested the Nothing Phone (1) and if you have read our conclusion, you know that we were not particularly impressed by this smartphone. Certainly, this mid-range model has some features never seen on a device of this type, starting with hundreds of LEDs that allow it to be illuminated in certain contexts. However, if we remove this differentiating point, thehe Nothing Phone (1) doesn’t have much more to offer than many smartphones in its category.
What future for the Nothing Phone (1)?
Once the bright hype is over, it remains to be seen what Nothing, Carl Pei’s company, has in mind for the future of its first smartphone.. The co-founder of OnePlus, who jumped ship several years ago, regularly praises the merits of his terminal on Twitter, and he recently announced thata new update had just been deployed to improve the photo part of the Nothing Phone (1).
One of our colleagues from Numerama then took the opportunity to question Carl Pei on the upcoming availability of Android 13 on the smartphone. The founder of Nothing then replied in a pithy way: “A product is not just regarding its specs, features and version number”.

This answer did not satisfy the owners of a Nothing Phone (1)who pointed out that the company had announced three years of guaranteed updates for the terminal, and that at this stage, communication around Android 13 should have already taken place.
Android 13 on the Nothing Phone (1): not before 2023
Other Internet users have decided not to ask the question to Carl Pei, visibly annoyed by the subject, and were content to question the customer service of Nothing. One of them received a response stating that the company teams are currently working on the subject, but not to expect an update until “the first half of next year”.
This answer remains elusive, especially when we know thatAndroid 13 will be available from next October in its final version, and that the deployment will begin in stride at many manufacturers. However, Android 13 probably won’t revolutionize the user experiencebut there are around its quick proposal on smartphones a token gesture in terminal tracking.
Owners of a Nothing Phone (1) who believed very early on in the promise of this new brand hope not to be left out by the manufacturer, and we can understand this: trust is acquired over time and Nothing clearly has everything to gain by meeting the expectations of its first customers.
