The North Jutland Member of Parliament has been absent from all voting this year

The independent Theresa Scavenius, who was elected in North Jutland – has yet to take part in a vote in the Folketing this year.

This is shown by a review carried out by Jyllands-Posten.

She has so far been absent from all 61 votes that have taken place since the turn of the year.

But there is an explanation for that, says the newspaper.

– What I choose to do is to work more qualitatively. This means that I select some individual legislative proposals, and then I go in depth with them, she says.

– So I spend all my time sitting and reading these often 200-page long bills. Then I ask questions, call for consultation or question time or make amendments.

– This means that I only reach very few legislative proposals.

Theresa Scavenius has a past in the Alternative, where she returned to the Folketing in 2022 with 1,081 personal votes in the Greater North Jutland Constituency.

She was then thrown out of the party’s parliamentary group following a series of conflicts, and in the end she chose to wave goodbye completely to go her own way.

As a starting point, she is of the opinion that it is important to vote if it is done on an informed basis, she explains to the newspaper.

But there are simply too many bills for it to be possible to deal with them all based on that premise, says Theresa Scavenius.

What can make it particularly difficult for a freelancer is that he sits with all the legislation himself, while the parties have rapporteurs to sit with different areas.

Therefore, she believes that as a freelancer you can either choose what she calls “a superficial approach”, or you can, like her, go in depth with individual suggestions.

Freelancers have been to all polls

Contrary to Theresa Scavenius, Kim Edberg Andersen was voted for in all the votes this year, while he was a freelancer.

Kim Edberg Andersen is also elected in North Jutland’s Storkreds for New Citizens and garnered 5218 personal votes in the 2022 election.

Today he is a member of the Danish Democrats, but until the membership came into the house, he voted in all 55 votes that took place until 18 March.

He believes that the events in the Folketingsalen must be prioritized over, for example, consultations.
