How does it feel to be 10 years old?

First of all, it’s a source of pride to be there. It’s a crazy fire too, what’s more to have brought legendary groups to a small village in the Jura. Each year we do not know if there will be a next edition. Creating an independent festival was crazy, so being there ten years later is done. Thank you to the festival-goers, it is partly thanks to them that we are a recognized festival today.

Explain to us this operation so atypical?

The festival belongs to the festival-goers. We have no sponsors, no patrons and no grants. I’m not asking politicians. Funding depends 60% on the ticket office, the rest on the bar, catering and a small part of merchandising. To fully understand what is at stake, the ten-year budget is 2.5 million euros.

How do you proceed to better understand the expectations of your festival-goers?

Each year we conduct a very thorough survey of our audience. This represents a hundred questions, it is very specific. They are the ones who judge us. And it works, the proof, we are still there. They choose part of the programming, right down to the quality of the campsite and of course we ask them regarding the pricing.

Is it more difficult today to organize such an event?

Clearly, yes. I feel more like a business leader than a cultural actor, but what interests me is first and foremost to defend and promote culture. For two, three years, we have felt a real change. It’s a daunting job to keep prices affordable: the 3-day pass at 84 euros doesn’t exist in festivals with a size of 45,000 people in total. So yes, it is more and more difficult to keep our values.

Give us envy with this tenth edition.

There is a sick lineup, to name a few: Cypress Hill, Steel Pulse, Protoje, Inna De Yard, Johnny Osbourne and even Massilia Sound System, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Patrice… More than 50 concerts out of three scenes, an audience that comes from 84 departments in France, 12 nationalities and more street arts, associative space, debates, games. A moment of sharing and solidarity, even more essential at the present time.

Where are you with the ticket office?

We have put on sale only 3-day passes until May 1st. 30% of the gauge has already been sold. Then will come the 3,000 tickets per evening for a total capacity of 15,000 people per evening.

What can we wish you?

Love and more love!
