The Bettman circuit has also put an end to all its promotional activities in Russian, whether on its various platforms or on social media.

Furthermore, Russia will no longer be considered to host league events.

The circuit, however, ruled out the exclusion of Russian players from its teams, indicating instead that it was concerned for their safety.

“The NHL condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and calls for a peaceful resolution as soon as possible,” a statement read.

“We also remain concerned regarding the well-being of Russian players, who play in the NHL on behalf of their clubs, not on behalf of Russia. We understand that they and their families are placed in an extremely difficult position.”
