Bazèga: The NGO Convoy of Hope offers a kitchen and six boreholes
Kombissiri (AIB)-The American NGO Convoy of Hope officially handed over on Friday July 15, 2022, in Toécé, six boreholes and a kitchen to its partner schools in the province of Bazèga.
The village of Toudou in the rural town of Toécé experienced a very special festive atmosphere at midday on Friday July 15, 2022.
And for good reason, the American NGO Convoy Of Hope, established in Burkina Faso since 2019 and which mainly intervenes in the feeding of students through the school canteen, organized an official handover ceremony for 6 boreholes drilled in the communes of Kombissiri and Toécé and a kitchen for the public primary school in Toudou.
Also, this ceremony was an opportunity for the NGO to officially launch the second phase of its IFRP (International Relief Food Partnership) program involved in supporting pregnant women and their children up to the age of 2 years following childbirth.
The objective of this activity was to allow the first managers of Convoy Of Hope headquarters from the USA to touch the finger and participate in the activities carried out in the field and also to strengthen the partnership between Convoy Of Hope Burkina and the various actors of the province. of the Bazega.
The head of Convoy Of Hope Zone Africa, Tom MCLane from the USA recalled the main mission of his NGO.
“We are in Burkina to support children in nutrition and their parents in agriculture and AGR for their development,” he said.
In his speech, the national director of Convoy Of Hope Pastor Jules Compaoré, returned to the various actions carried out before launching the second phase of the IFRP program which extends over 4 regions, 11 provinces including that of Bazèga.
On account of the actions carried out, in addition to student nutrition, the NGO also intervenes in other areas such as agriculture, the empowerment of women, the awakening of young girls and young boys through its various programs.
In the province of Bazèga, around thirty schools in the communes of Kombissiri, Toécé, Saponé and Doulougou benefit from various foodstuffs provided for the entire school year each year.
In terms of figures, according to Pastor Jules Compaoré, it is more than 13,300 children fed, 19 kitchens built and equipped with utensils, 13 boreholes drilled, including 12 equipped with solar energy, vegetable gardens, 217 people supported in agriculture, 250 women through income-generating activities, 3,000 young girls and 600 children for the ”Girls Empowerment” and ”Boys program” programmes.
The second phase of the IFRP program is a reinforcement of what has been done according to the director Convoy Of Hope Burkina Faso.
“We want to emphasize quality at all levels of intervention to put children in better study conditions”, he specified, convinced that the future inevitably passes now through good care of children.
Present at the ceremony which mobilized a large world, the High Commissioner represented by the Secretary General of the province Valentin Maré and all the beneficiaries unanimously welcomed the actions of Convoy Of Hope which contribute fully to the well-being of the populations and to the academic success of students.
